Active throughout the USA, the Memon Community charity focuses on empowering people to build a future they can sustain. We are firm believers that communities themselves have the potential to solve many of their own challenges. Our approach goes beyond offering charity; we respond to the unique needs of each community. By fostering independence, we spark meaningful and long-term change. Our guiding philosophy is ‘Lifting others up with support, not just giving a handout,’ which has been central to our mission for many years.
Over the years, the Memon Community has been dedicated to environmental sustainability through a variety of impactful projects. Recognizing the challenges of deforestation in local areas, our first major environmental initiative focused on community tree planting. This ongoing effort has led to the successful planting of over two million trees every year, significantly contributing to environmental restoration.
In parallel, we saw the need for local communities to actively engage in protecting their forests. To address this, we launched a forest conservation project, empowering communities to implement sustainable practices that protect their natural resources for future generations.
Additionally, we identified the traditional cooking methods relying heavily on firewood as a key factor contributing to deforestation. In collaboration with the communities, we developed a fuel-efficient cookstove called Changu Changu Moto (Fast Fast Fire). Today, over 600,000 individuals are using these cookstoves, saving approximately 250,000 bundles of firewood each week.
Encouraged by the success of these initiatives and the active involvement of the community, we recognized that a similar approach could be applied to address local environmental issues like over-fishing. This led to the creation of our Fish Conservation project, which, since its inception in 2012, has engaged over 4,740 members of local committees who are now protecting critical shorelines.
Through exciting tournaments, regular practice sessions, and team drills, players continually sharpen their skills, improve strategy, and build strong teamwork, contributing to the overall growth and success of the club.
The club provides players of all ages the opportunity to learn and develop cricket skills through participation in competitive tournaments. Players gain experience in batting, bowling, and fielding while testing their abilities in real match situations.
We also emphasize teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship, helping players understand the importance of fair play, collaboration, and personal growth. Competing in tournaments allows members to strengthen their skills, build confidence, and foster a sense of community among cricket enthusiasts.
